It features a sport court, learning garden, outdoor classroom, outdoor kitchen, progressive design elements, passive ventilation system, external green screen to block the sun during the summer. It is 14,000 sq ft.
The building opened in January 2017.
This was a major renovation and addition to the existing design and structure of the historic Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, which was originally constructed in the late 1930s. The project involved completing renovations to the church, as well as adding a hall for use by Westbank First Nation Elders.
This project was completed in 2007.
Sensisyusten House of Learning, a 16,000-square-foot independent elementary school located in the heart of the Westbank First Nation community core, was built like a traditional First Nation qʷc̓iʔ (pit house).
Pit houses, traditionally round in configuration, were built and utilized by the syilx/Okanagan as a place to live, tell stories, celebrate, and store food.
This project was completed in 1995.
